2023 Oscar Predictions: Best Picture
Category Commentary: Six films are guaranteed nominations — Searchlight Pictures’ “The Banshees of Inisharine,” Warner Bros.’ “Elvis,” A24’s “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” Universal Pictures’ “The Fablemans,” Focus Features’ “She” and Paramount Pictures’ “Top Gun: Maverick.”
The 14 BAFTA nominations for Netflix’s “All Quiet on the Western Front” have amply convinced pundits that it is strong with the tech sector, and conversations with Academy members suggest that the “Triangle of Sorrows” with the European voting bloc is strong.
SAG nods to cast ensembles suggest MGM/UAR’s “Women Talking” has enough love with the actors to pull it off, and love for Brendan Fraser’s work in A24’s “The Whale” is one of the few examples of a performer possibly pulling one. . Film along for the ride.
There are also three sequels that could be in the running — 20th Century Studios’ “Avatar: The Way of Water,” Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and Netflix’s “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” — which were all PGA Nominated.
