On Wednesday, during her daily show on Apple Music 1, Zane Lowe spotlighted 23 new artists to watch in 2023 and made this year’s list Meet Me @ The Altar, the American pop punk band fueled by ramen (All Time Lowe, Twenty One Pilot, Fall Out Boy).
The trio’s debut record, “Past // Present // Future,” will arrive March 10, the band announced during “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” where they performed their single “Say It (To My Face).”
Lowe, Apple Music’s global creative director, said in an official statement, “23 for 23 is a snapshot of how we think music will sound and feel throughout the year. “These artists are both brilliant and creative — representing the best era of creativity we’ve seen. There were so many artists to choose from, but it’s 2023… so it’s 23. We think it’s a great place to start and we can’t wait to see who else is through this year.”
North Carolina rapper Tiakorin also made the list with his fusion of rap, pop, rock R&B, as did singer-songwriter JVKE, whose song “Golden Hour” took off on TikTok and made its first Hot 100 entry in September.
Lizzie McAlpine, who is a featured artist alongside John Mayer on Jacob Collier’s Grammy-nominated “Never Gonna Be Alone,” also made the list. Check out the full list of artists below and the specially curated playlist here.
