Rachel Brosnahan is set to star in “The Switch”, a life-long comedy based on the Beth O’Leary novel of the same name.

Becca Bowling is adapting the screenplay for “The Switch” set up by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners.

The dramatic center is about a 29-year-old consultant and his 799-year-old grandmother, who decided to switch lives (including cellphones) after a series of personal tragedies. The younger woman moved to a tiny Yorkshire village to handle dog walks and the clock around her, and the older woman found herself in a small flat in London, navigating through dating apps and starting a social club for lonely Londoners.

Christy McCosco will produce Krieger (“The Post,” “Bridge of Spice”), while O’Leary will act as executive producer alongside Brosnahan. Jeb Brody, president of production at Amblin Partners, will oversee the project for the studio.

“I’m delighted to be partnering with Amblin to enliven Beth O’Leary’s beautiful book. Dr. Brosnahan said in a statement:” I was totally captivated and deeply moved from the first page to the end “”

O’Leary’s book “The Switch” was published in the United States last month and has become a Sunday Times stellar. It will be released on August 18 in the United States and Canada. His first novel, The Flashshare, which he wrote on the train during his tenure at Children’s Publishing Day, was published last year and was the best-selling in the Sunday Times Top Five.

Brosnahan has been reinstated by Brillstein Partners, CAA and Shrek, Rose, Dapello, Adams and Dunham. O’Leary is represented by Sheila David and Tenera Simmons, Darley Anderson Literary, TV and Film Agency, London and Richard Thompson at Brechen Fieldman Bremer Silver and Thompson, LLP. Bowling in partnership with artists represents CAA and Robert Taylor.
