Andoni Luis Aduriz, John Maya Sign and Pablo Iraburu, the main lights of Basque gastronomy, dance and non-fiction productions, are coming together to create a creative documentary that pays homage to a film classic.

The identity of that classic will be revealed in the coming months. The link between the various creative worlds is the latest interdisciplinary experiment for Aduriz, whose dining company, Mugaritz, plays two Michelin stars, and has been listed by Restaurant Magazine for 14 consecutive years.

One of the top 10 restaurants in the world. This, in Aduriz’s view, is much more than that, however, the goal of an R&D center is to entice through a multi-sensory experience.

Iraburu, founder and director of Arena Communications, has spent two decades creating, co-directing and co-writing dock features such as “Nomadak Tx,” “Pura Vida,” “Muros,” “District Zero,” “Elkarrekin-Together” and so on. “Colitas”, all of which have received international distribution.

Maya Kukai is Dantja’s director, dancer and choreographer. It won the National Dance Award in 2017.

The creative dock feature will bring together the trio, culinary, literature, cinema, dance and music, announced Monday at the San Sebastian Festival.

“In this creative documentary, as a companion with Kukai and Arena, we will address the necessary and provocative questions posed by a movie classic and gastronomic reference,” Aduriz said.

Maya added, “Years have passed since the first meeting with Andoni Luis Aduriz, a few hours of conversation after eating the sensory experience, the universality of roots, contemporary and traditional theories and how our vision can come together.” “It’s time to start a creative process in this common space.”

For Iraburu, “the endless and inexhaustible creativity of the Muggaritz universe and the expressive power of Kukai will be kept in the service of a strong message.”

Arena Audiovisual and Kukai Dantja have previously collaborated on the film “Oscar” (2016) as well as the medium feature “Bjimina” (2020), which premiered at the Basque Cinema Gala at the San Sebastian Festival.
