Leslie Grace reveals how she came to know that she has been cast as Barbara Gordon in the upcoming HBO Max superhero movie “Batgirl”. The “In the Heights” star was asked by filmmakers to jump into the last-minute zoom for the final casting test, before they were instructed to read an email sent to him.
Grace told me on MTV VMA at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, “I open it and say, ‘I’m a batgirl’ … and my brain is broken.”
He said, “It was an incredible moment. When I want to say incredible, I mean the definition of a textbook, I couldn’t believe it. I actually broke my brain when I got the news.
Grace read comics as soon as possible and got to work. “That was my first question – what should I read?” He added, “I like, ‘Send me what I need to learn.’ I just bought each comic and just started asking so many questions.
Not surprisingly, he is unable to reveal the story of the film or if his Batman colleagues like Robert Pattinson and Ben Affleck appear in his film. “But I’ll tell you this, Batgirl is a scoundrel,” he said. “He’s definitely going to fight a lot of people. He will be in the palm of his hand too. He has a lot to prove. ”
Grace hopes that young fans will be inspired by Latina Batgirl and her work “gives the reality of dreams to others who look like me, who may think this is not an opportunity for them.
“I’m really excited about every young girl who goes to see the Dominican Batika and says,‘ I can do it, ’” she said. “I can’t wait.”
It was announced in July that Grace had won the coveted title role. The “Bad Boys for Life” duo Adil El Arabi and Billal Fallah are going to be directed from a script by Christina Hudson. Shooting is set to begin in November.
