Biden to discuss vaccine mandate with Disney’s Bob Chapek and other CEOs

2 min read

President Joe Biden is meeting with senior CEOs across the country, including Disney CEO Bob Chapek, to discuss the need for the CVD-1 vaccine and a potential order that would affect millions of workers across the country.

Teams of invited executives have established vaccine requirements in their respective companies. In July, the Walt Disney Company announced that all salaried and non-union employees must be vaccinated before returning to work. In August, Disney reached an agreement with its Service Trades Council Union, which represents Disney World’s nearly 1,000,000 employees, to ensure that all workers are vaccinated.

Other executives invited to the talks with Biden include Krager Permanent Chair and CEO Greg Adams; Brad Smith, President of Microsoft; Madeleine Bell, President and CEO of Philadelphia Children’s Hospital; Josh Bolten, president and CEO of the Business Roundtable; Rose Brewer, CEO of the Walgreens Boots Alliance; Tim Boyle, President and CEO of Columbia Sportswear; Molly Moon Knitzel, founder and CEO of Molly Moon Homemade Ice Cream; And William Tate IV, president of Louisiana State University. The meeting will begin at 1:30 ET.

At the briefing, White House officials cited widespread support for a vaccine mandate across the country, citing the CEO’s own company and the positive example of the American vote adopted by CNN and Axios. Executives will share their strategies for implementing the vaccine mandate, and other businesses need to follow suit.

Last week, news broke that Biden was going to announce a massively coveted mandate for the company with more than 100 employees. Workers must be vaccinated or tested every week, and the move will affect more than 80 million Americans.
