New Line Cinema founder Bob Shay has signed on as a strategic investor in Brat TV, a digital studio that specializes in creating scripted series for General Z viewers.
Shay, who will also join Brat’s board of directors, is best known as the creative force behind some memorable cinematic franchises, including “Lord of the Rings” and “Two Night Dreams on Elm Street.” He came out of the new line in 200 and launched his own shingle, unique features.
The opportunity that partly attracted him was a resemblance between the independent path he lit with the New Line in Hollywood and the strategic path Brat was following. “The idea they’re choosing is a thread to graduate from New Line,” he said in the latest episode. Founded in 2017, Bratt has made a name for itself among young viewers by programming with influential talent that is available on a variety of digital platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Snap and Peacock.
