BTS member Jin shared a heartfelt video message dedicated to the boy band’s fan army worldwide. In the clip, which was recorded before his military enlistment, Jean encourages the team to stick with him as he completes his service.

According to a note Jin made on the video, the message was filmed in between takes for his role on the Korean variety show, “Running Man,” which was filmed about a month before his enlistment in December. With a hearty smile, he asked fans to wait for him as he is expected to complete his mandatory service — which will be 18 months — and said he hopes to release more video messages soon.

“Hello everyone, this is Jin from BTS. I will not be a civilian when the video is published. But I’m here in front of the camera because I wanted to leave you something, even if it’s just a message,” Jin said in a minute-long clip aired on their YouTube channel Bangtan TV on Monday.

He continued: “I may not be by your side, but I’ll be looking for you soon, if you wait a little. I’ll be back soon. You won’t answer. Next time I have time, I’ll share another video.”

Jin (full name Kim Seok-jin) is the first member of a South Korean boy band to enlist in the military for a term beginning in December. Before she left, Jean shared her farewell online with a photo of herself with a heavy haircut. He entered a military installation in Yeoncheon near the border with North Korea.

Jin’s military service temporarily reduced BTS to six members while the band continued its hiatus. Since the band announced a hiatus in the middle of the year they have already appeared together less frequently and several members have embarked on solo ventures. The last full-scale BTS performance was a mid-October concert in Busan that will be released in theaters on February 1.

In early October, the band and their agency Hyb said that all band members would enlist. It is now expected that members of other groups will take their turn for military service. Korea requires all able-bodied men to serve in the military for 18-21 months.

Meanwhile, Jin has released his solo single “Astronaut” and the other members have released their own solo projects, the latest being RM. Her “Indigo” album featured guests such as Erykah Badu and Anderson .Pak, and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart as her first solo top 10 effort.
