Production, finance and sales organization Film Constellation has signed a new key deal on the psychological thriller “John and the Hole”. DiversityTop 10 Directors to Visit, Pascal Sisto. The film is written by Nicolas Giacobon, his Academy Award winner “Birdman” adapted from his short story “El Pozzo”.
The Cannes 2020 title, which was also screened at Sundance and recently competed at the DeVille American Film Festival, where it won the Louis Rডারidar Prize for Revelation Jury sold at S Entertainment in France, Germany, Austria and Coach Films in Switzerland, in Scandinavia, Scandinavia Distribution and Gravel Road Distribution Group in Africa.
Previous deals have included the UK with Vertigo releasing, Australia / New Zealand with Rialto distribution and South Korea with The Coupe. IFC Midnight released the film in the United States early last month.
Described by DiversityPeter Debruz “as calculated and precise [with] Director Pascal Sisto weaves a very dark thread of humor through a different kind of high-tension situation, ”the film centers on a 13-year-old man who decides to keep his wealthy family trapped in an underground bunker on the backyard of their home. Left without supervision, John experiences new freedom, exploring the difficult path from childhood freedom to adult responsibility.
The film stars Emmy-winner Michael C. Hall (“Dexter”), Charlie Shotwell (“Captain Fantastic,” Marvel’s “Morbius”), BAFTA winner Jennifer Ehle (“A Quiet Passion,” “Zero Dark Thirty,” “Fifty Shades”). “Suffrage) and Taisa Fermiga (” The Nun, “” Mule “).
The sound design team includes Nicholas Baker, Jaime Boxt, Michelle Kautolenak and Carlos Curtis, who jointly won the Academy Award for Sound for “The Sound of Metal”.
The film is produced by Elika Portnoy and Alex Orlovsky and Michael Boyce of Mutresa Movies and selected by Phil Holting, Marco Vicini and Fernando Sai in 3311 Productions.
