Global superstar Celine Dion is getting a feature documentary treatment.
French-Canadian singer Sony Music Entertainment has blessed a new feature documentary in the premium content division for partnering with SME Canada and Vermillion Films. The still-untitled feature will be directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Irene Taylor (“Beware of Slenderman,” “Listen and Now”), and promotional material claims that it will “serve the star as a special feature.”
Created with Dion’s full participation and support, the film will tell the story of his life and career success, including the release of iconic albums, award accolades, world travel and Las Vegas residences.
The dock’s news comes a day after “Aline” found a home in the United States with Roadside Attraction and Samuel Goldwyn Films after worldwide sales for the French sales company Gaument.
Taylor recently directed the Emmy-nominated documentary “Moonlight Sonata: Deafness at Three o’clock”. Her first feature film, “Here and Now” won a Peabody Award and the Sundance Film Festival Audience Award. He was also an Oscar nominee for “The Final Inch”, which received multiple Emmy nominations and the International Documentary Association’s Par Lorenz Award.
“I’ve always been an open book to my fans, and with her sensitivity and thoughtful creativity I think Irene will be able to show everyone a part of me that they haven’t seen before … I know she will tell my story in the most honest and heartfelt way, “The witch said.
Taylor added: “Going on this journey with a legendary artist like Celine Dion is a great opportunity for me as a filmmaker. With access to test her life and inevitable career, I will be able to create a versatile portrait of an iconic, global superstar. Looking forward to sharing. ”
Since starting Quebec as a singer at the age of 14, Dion has sold more than 250 million albums in her 40-year career. She has won five Grammy Awards, two Academy Awards, the 2016 Billboard Music Awards Lifetime Achievement Icon Award and the 2004 World Music Awards as the best-selling female artist of all time.
Later this year, Dion will return to Las Vegas with a new show at Resorts World. Meanwhile, his daring world tour, which was shortened by the epidemic in 2020, will resume across North America and Europe in the spring and summer of 2022.
“Celine Dion is one of the greatest recording artists of all time,” said Tom McKay, president of Sony Music Entertainment’s premium content arm. Looking forward to developing a delivery strategy to reach out. “
Sony Music Entertainment is financing and distributing the film. Krista Wagner, senior vice president of sales and distribution of premium content at Sony Music Entertainment, will lead the global sales of the film.
