“” stars Alison Brie and Danny Pudi, who recently reunited for the rom-com “Somebody I Used to Know,” are all set to begin the much-anticipated film extension of the sitcom.

At the “Somebody I Used to Know” premiere on Wednesday, Brie said diversity He hopes to shoot the film this year. “I’m clearing that schedule,” Bree said. Pudi agreed, “Looks like this year. Right now, it’s just time.”

Brie and her husband, Dave Franco, co-wrote “Who I Knew” about the Covid lockdown. Following Franco’s directorial debut with “The Rental” in 2020, he directs the new film, in which Brie stars opposite “Top Gun: Mavericks” Jay Ellis.

After TV producer Ally (Bree) faces a professional setback, she returns to her hometown and spends a whirlwind evening with her first love Sean (Ellis). That is until she learns that Shawn is getting married — that same weekend. Through the help and resistance of friends (Puddy) and family (Haley Joel Osment), “Someone I Knew” reimagines the rom-com through Ally’s unconventional love story.

Working together on a comedy gets Bree and Pudi excited about what’s to come with the “Community” movie. “Everyone is super excited, we’re really really pumped,” Pudi said. “I think so [“Somebody I Used to Know”] It was a glimpse of what it would be like.”

“We wrote the introduction for him,” Bree said of Pudi. “You can’t fake that history with anybody. And it felt like we didn’t miss a day. Danny and I have remained incredibly close. He’s one of my best friends, so it was like being on the set of ‘Community’. We came back for our silliness and Dave filmed a lot of them and put them in the movie.”

Pudi added, “That was a joy. We really wanted it to be like let’s just play and have fun, and Dave is so cool and kind that ‘I want to use this, I want it to feel like your friendship.’ We had a lot of fun on set together in Portland for a month. We were like, ‘I can’t wait to get everyone else together.’

“Community,” also stars Joel McHale, Donald Glover, Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown and Ken Jeong.

“Someone I Knew” also stars Kiersey Clemons and Julie Hagerty. Franco and Brie served as executive producers on their fourth collaboration, alongside executive producers Teddy Schwarzman, Laura Quicksilver and Burt Lipton, as well as producers Marty Bowen, Vic Godfrey, Isaac Klausner, Ben Stillman, Michael Heimler and Le Kite.

“Somebody I Used to Know” premieres February 10 on Amazon Prime.
