Downtown Music Unveils ‘Summer School’ Virtual Internship – Various

2 min read

Downtown Music Holdings has announced the launch of a one-week virtual program Downtown Summer School to continue learning about all aspects of the music industry and all aspects of the music business. The program – which, in the manifesto, “attempts to re-imagine summer internships affected by Covid-19” – will broadcast live with morning sessions starting at 12:00 pm on the week of July 2, followed by a session at 3:30 pm. This global program will be available free of charge to all interested participants and reflects the company’s commitment to “offering alternative learning opportunities this summer instead of a traditional themed internship”, noting that it is an open ing music business not just for students but for anyone interested.

“We look forward to re-imagining our internship program for virtual audiences this year and looking forward to fueling the next generation of music business leaders and creative entrepreneurs,” says Justin Califuits, CEO of Downtown Music Holdings. “We have the opportunity to reach a wider audience and educate more students than ever before. A big part of our philosophy about a more just and innovative music ecosystem is to cultivate talent and show our appreciation for the business side of music. The Downtown Summer School will help participants understand the building blocks of the industry so that we can continue to support a rich creative class now and in the future. “

Although Downtown Summer School primarily targets high school and college students and those in the early stages of their careers, the program is available to anyone in the world. The Downtown Summer School will feature panel discussions with officials from various downtown departments, including Downtown Music Publishing, SantStrust, CD Baby, and Fuga, as well as executives at Worder Records, Suntrust and BeatStars (subject to schedule and lineup changes). Sessions include:

  • Crafting hit songs around the world
  • How signed laws today distribute, monetize and promote their music
  • Music on screen
  • Different paths of career in music industry
  • The future of music streaming

Interested participants are encouraged to register at Summerschool.downtownmusic.com and sign up for Downtown Summer School by July 22.
