Doza Cat to be ‘Heavy Metal Sandy’ for remake of commercial ‘Greece’ song

6 min read

Apparently, like other parts of the world, the doza cat has always had a fondness for the world of the pink lady – meaning “Greece”. So it wasn’t as stretched as it might seem that the singer could take on the role of Sandy with the help of “Hot Pink” and sing the song “You’re the One I Want” for a Pepsi ad. Its broadcast premiere during the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, a show he’s hosting.

Asked if he grew up in “Greece”, he said: “I’m not shocked. I once met someone who doesn’t know about ‘Greece’. I’m really, really shocked. It’s the most iconic movie in the world. And my favorite badd. There was Sandy. I think it’s very clich, because everyone loves Bad Sandy. But I think that’s the best Sandy. Look at me, I don’t like Sandra D “Sandy.)

Doja told Kat Diversity As well as cutting remakes of the film’s climactic songs, the costume design ret ret for a 1-minute-45-second spot, which has already premiered on YouTube before its VMA broadcast bow. This is for a new Pepsi brand called Soda Shop, so the capping scene of the commercial inevitably happens in such a store, leaving behind Rydell High Bleachers. There is a lot of consensus for the film by director Randall Kleiser, although the instruction did not follow the film for the exact timing.

“With bad Sandy, we just went into a whole crazy mode,” she says. “We were,‘ Hey man, put some spikes on it, get some black vinyl. We want it to be ulent glorious and shiny and dark and terrifying. ‘What I really liked about the real Bad Sandy (played by Olivia Newton-John) was that she had a very simple look, and I think it was better to be less then. But for modern times, we’ve taken Bad Sandy very dramatically and I think we killed it. I think it’s like a heavy metal Sandy, if she’s like the metal of death.

He will admit that there was disagreement over how to spend time with a more innocent look that started commercially. “We spent a lot of time on clothes for a good Sandy,” Doza Kat says. “It turned out to be an argument that I wanted to get involved in a knit sweater, and that (discussion of knitting sweaters) got heated, and just because we didn’t want it in the 50’s. Besides, I think we’re absolutely 100% nail. Granted, he said, indicating that he was right with the blue dress that cut the final costume. “Good Sandy beautiful, very pretty girl, but didn’t have sex outside of this world. And I think we got it. But I was dying for that knitted sweater!” She repeated with a smile.

Doza Cat has recreated the ‘Greece’ scene for the commercial of the Pepsi Soda Shop

Doza Kat, her director for the spot, said: “Hannah Lux Davis is awesome. She really knows how to bring out the best in anyone. I really believe in that.

For the track, Doza Cat collaborated with producer Y2K, best known for rapper Bbno গান ‘s song “Lalala”. A long version is coming?

“We didn’t make a full-length version,” he lamented. “My friend, the producer, is asking me to finish the whole thing. So I’m down a bit for that. It’s a good idea to do the whole thing. I think people will really enjoy it. Some people will absolutely hate that I am trying to recreate an iconic moment. I really hope I’m not wasting it for anyone. And I probably; There are seven billion people on this planet, so not everyone will like it, but most people will.

Singing “You’re the One I Want” didn’t come naturally, even when he grew up in the 1978 No. 1 single, which was originally a duet between John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John but just the cat in Dozer’s performance.

“It was the hardest song, based on the song,” he says. “I had a hard time singing many of these parts of the song, and that’s because back then, the music was done very carefully and had a level in it. Now it’s like you put a beat and you just loop it and then you sing it – and a lot of it is still good, but it wasn’t like before. There are a lot of awful changes in the song and it was just nice to try to understand it and attack it. And I feel like my voice … “He pauses for self-assessment.” I would say my voice is fine. Sometimes I have moments to look good, sometimes I have moments to sing really bad. But that’s one of those songs. One where I had to nail it, and I think I did. Or I did my best, ”he smiled.

On Sunday night on MTV VMA, Doza Cat will serve a medley of “Like This” and “You’re Right” from her “Planet Rate” album, which has been significantly better on the market this year. He was in a roll of knockout award-show performances, starting with the shadowy appearance of Grammys to gamble with aliens in a corn field at the IHeartRadio Music Awards this summer. Without spoiling too much, he said his performances this weekend will have a lot of different choreography.

“If I did the same thing every day, I would lose my mind, and it was my whole life,” he says. “I can’t do the same thing every day. I had a really hard time at school (for that reason). So that’s the definition of my career. And I wanted to do something that seemed the complete opposite of my last job. A lot of what I do is like hip-hop dancing. And I didn’t fully embrace my breakdanceing, popping side. But for that I wanted to do contemporary / modern dance. It’s very expressive and beautiful, and apparently it’s interesting and registers really nicely on stage. And I wanted to go for a very perfect and soft but intense kind of presentation. So it was really fun to learn. And my back, my neck, my shoulders and my legs are gone after trying to learn this. But it seems very normal and I am very excited about what it will be like in the end. ”

Is there anything or anyone she would like to relate to the style she is going for with her Sunday night dance? “Absolutely. One of the artists I see the most is FKA Twigs. He is the highest perfection in performing on stage. And I think she’s very much into that contemporary dance world. With the kind of ethereal-ness she has, I think she’s a symbol of beauty. And I saw if she was taking part from there and so I remembered her when I wanted to create something beautiful in that sense.

To learn choreography, does he have time to panic about the seemingly low back-breaking work of hosting a VMA?

“The only thing that scares me is that people are telling me to do things I don’t want to do. This kind of thing, ”he smiled. “The thing is, when I talk, I run, and I go a little longer, and that’s a characteristic of mine. I hope I don’t that night. But I think it’s going to be a lot of fun, and I’m going to do what I’m going to do, which is frustrating. That’s basically it. May Allah help us all. “
