Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves to open SXSW

South by Southwest (SXSW) Conferences and Festivals has dropped the initial lineup for the 30th edition of the SXSW Film & TV Festival, including Opening Night Films, Feature and Short Competitions, Midnighters and the XR Experience.
The festival will open with Paramount Pictures and eOne’s “Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves,” directed and co-written by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley. A group filled with unlikely adventurers and a charming thief journey to find a lost relic, and the plot thickens as the band collides with the wrong people. The film stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Hugh Grant, Reggie-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, Chloe Coleman and Daisy Head.
Other titles are “Evil Dead Rise,” directed and written by Lee Cronin; “the problemFrom Julio Torres, with Tilda Swinton; and directed by Eva Longoria.”flamin hot“
SXSW brings together thousands of fans, content creators, industry leaders and press for an immersive look at the year’s best new film, TV and XR projects and offers art exhibitions, conference sessions, comedy and music showcases, meetups, mentorships and special events. The cross-industry event will only take place in person in Austin in 2023.
SXSW 2023 runs March 10-19, and the full lineup will be announced in early February.

SXSW features films using the following categories: Headliners, Narrative Feature Competition presented by Panavision, Documentary Feature Competition, Narrative Spotlight, Documentary Spotlight, Visions, Midnighters, Global presented by MUBI, 24 Bits Per Second, Festival Favorites and Special Screenings. TV is divided into TV Premiere, TV Spotlight and Independent TV Pilot competitions. IMDbPro’s Short Film Program will feature seven competition categories. 2023 programming is complete with the XR Experience Contest, XR Spotlight and XR Special Events. In addition to special screenings and TV spotlights, all categories can receive audience awards.
Other films in SXSW Global, Visions, 24 Bits, Festival Favorites and all other categories will be announced in February. Check out the preliminary lineup list below.
