“CMT Artists of the Year”, which returns as a live show this month, will include some interdisciplinary duets in its lineup, such as the traditional-respected Kelsia Ballerini joining the Jonas Brothers, and Yola joining Mickey Gaiton in other collaborations.
Some of the artists received for the broadcast will perform on their own, including Luke Combs, Gabby Barrett and Ken Brown. Others like Gaiton and Ballarini will also take part in the pair. But Chris Stapleton will probably sit back when he was serenaded by Boys II Men and Kevin Olusola of the Pentatonics, who are willing to cooperate to pay tribute to Stapleton.
The network is looking for a way to work on the warmest country song of the moment, although its singer is not one of the already nominated honorees of the night. This is Walker Hayes’ “Fancy Like”, which will get its first live award-show look on the CMT program. The Tiktok meme-powered single is at number 1 on the Billboard Country Guns chart and currently sits at number 5 on Rolling Stone’s All-Genre song chart, a rare intrusion into a country’s top 10 overall artists.
The only artist on the list of honorees whose performances have not been announced is Randy Travis of “Lifetime Artist”, who seems to have been unable to sing on the telecast himself, yet may be a matter of respect yet.
“CMT Artist of the Year” will air live on ET / PT from the Shermarhorn Symphony Center in Nashville on October 1 at 9 p.m.
