Release date
Virgil Films has set a June digital release date for the documentary “40 Years of Rocky”, which chronicles the behind-the-scenes journey of the 1966 classic “Rocky”.
“Rocky” director John G. Sylvester Stallone described the making of the film in a rare home film filmed by Avildens – which won the 197 Academy Award for Best Picture. The documentary is written and directed by Derek Wayne Johnson, who co-produced the movie 833 Entertainment’s Chris May and the movie 83’s documentary film.
Johnson said, “The documentary is a gold mine for‘ Rocky ’fans and casual listeners.” It’s an interesting piece of film history written by Rocky himself, Sylvester Stallone, and will give listeners an intimate and sometimes sensitive experience. We’re proud of the film, and listeners can expect new stories and new footage they’ve never seen before in a mix of on-screen footage from director John Evilden’s home movies, rehearsal footage and the final underdog making. “
Executive producer David Polemeni funded the film through Visionary Private Equity Group. The next project of Cinema 83 will be a new documentary through a group of pictures about the long friendship between comedy legend Don Riquels and Bob Newhart and their impact on comedy.

Arklight Films is buying sales of the fantasy-adventure “King’s Daughter” for next month’s Cannes virtual market.
The film stars Pierre Brosnan with Julie Andrews as the narrator. Arklight manages global distribution rights excluding mainland China.
Sean McNamara produced and directed the film, which Barry Berman and James Scamus adapted for the screen from the best-selling Nebula Award-winning novel, The Moon and the Sun. The film tells the story of King Louis IV (Brosan) ‘s quest for immortality, which leads him to capture and steal the life force of a climber, a move that is further complicated by the discovery of the legendary creature of his illegitimate daughter.
“We have listened to our buyers and they are looking for full quality films to fill their pipelines when they get the industry back. This fantastic film has all the ingredients you need for your success: a wildly popular novel, inevitably starring Pierre Brosnan and Kaya Scodillario and now unparalleled by Julie Andrews, ”says Guy Hamilton of Arklite.
