“Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater” has a long – and sometimes rocky – history. When its first installment was released in 1999, its smooth controls, impressive physics, and classic punk rock and sca-infused soundtracks drew a generation of growing skateboarding fans and created a full-fledged video game franchise.

However, the recent few entries have been well received. So when Activision announced in May that it was bringing the series back to its roots, the Internet, by remasting “Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2”, was surprisingly delighted.

For the rest, Activism reintroduces Vicarious Visions, the developer of “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater” franchise and developer of extensive history with the two in general. Diversity Vicarius Visions spoke to COO Simon Ibezar about what to expect when the game is released on September 4th.

This is a ‘high-quality trusted re-teacher’

When the title of a video game is reconsidered, a number of questions often arise: Is it a remake or a reboot? How close is it to the original? In the case of “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2”, Ibezar made it very clear that it should be felt. Too Familiar to fans in the ’90s – a few new additions. Vicarius received the original handling code from Neversoft, the developer of “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater” brought it back to his engine from the late studio and rearranged it in 4K, bringing back all 19 original levels.

“It’s a truly trusted remaster to manage tightly, the core mechanics, all levels will feel the same,” Ibezar said. “Our nostalgic players should feel what they expect.”

What’s in it What New?

“One of the challenges of a faithful remaster is knowing where to push the boundaries and what to keep sacred.” “It’s important to capture the real experience we’re talking about, but there’s room to fix things to appeal to today’s audience.”

Abeger said Vicarius wanted to see the “Tony Hawk” series “in public” and provide our nostalgia, but he identified the next improvement in the franchise as the next standard improvement, which was first introduced in “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3” and the players. To make it easier to link combos together, Flatland’s strategies will remain in such remasters. It creates online multiplayer (in addition to the local split-screen) and a more powerful skater and a park editor, enabling players to share their parks online.

Almost all the original soundtracks are back

Speaking of “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater” without talking about the term from Goldfinger, Machine Against Rage, Dead Kennedy, and more, Vicarius realized how important it was to bring the games back. Luckily, all but five songs (formerly marked by Kotaku) brought it up.

“We were a little less between the two of them because, you know, it was 20 years later and sometimes the licensees or copyright holders couldn’t be traced, or there could be a debate about who might be the right holder,” Ebager said. “But in most cases, when [the original artists] We got to know about this game and we re-arranged it, they were thrilled to be a part of it.

Too much behind the roster (but they look a bit different)

The remaster arranges for all 13 skaters to return from the original roster – but for the new pick, Victarias are now at their IRL age meaning that many of the original skaters will hit the parks in their forties and 50s, with the fact that their fanbase has grown alongside them. Will reflect. Ibezar said the team threw out a number of ideas to discuss what rosters should do to make the game, but in the end, “it felt right to be their own present,” adding that the way Hawk was interested in doing would be us.

It is officially coming this fall

“Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2” will be available exclusively on September 4 for PS4, Xbox One and PC as an Epic Games Store, priced at 40 40. Those who pre-order digitally will have access to a demo of “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater’s Warehouse” before the game starts.
