Hollywood players are falling for themselves in hopes of landing a new movie package with George Clooney and Brad Pitt’s “Ocean’s 11” team, who will reunite under the watchful eye of “Spider-Man: Homecoming” director John Watts. According to the Hollywood Reporter, which broke the news, the package attracted interest from buyers including buyers from Lionsgate, Apple, Sony, Netflix, Universal, Amazon, Annapurna and Warner Bros. Feu.
It’s not hard to see why everyone is breaking their checkbooks – two A-listers + Hot Director = Box Office Winner / Streaming Standout. The deal calls for Watts to lead Clooney and Pitt in writing, directing and producing. Their production labels, Clooney’s Smokehouse Pictures and Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment will produce the film.
The plot details, as low as they are, are guarded like hope diamonds. Here is what we know. Apparently the film with a focus on two fixers who get the same gig.
In addition to their work in the “Oceans 11” franchise, Pete and Clooney both reunited for the Coin Brothers’ “Burn After Reading.” Pete is new to winning an Oscar for “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”. Clooney is directing Ben Affleck and Tie Sheridan in “The Tender Bar” this fall. Watts has directed three recent Spider-Man films. His most recent entry, “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” is making its debut this winter.
Clooney, Pete, and Watts are repped by CAA. Clooney has also been restored by Lechter Grossman, Pitt by Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Goodman Zeno, and Watts by Zeffren Brittenham.
