Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reginald Hudlin are named Icon Value Honorees

Salutes at the eighth annual Icon Mann Honors Dinner will include “The Woman King” filmmaker Gina Prince-Bythewood, “Sydney” directors Reginald Hudlin and Ujodinma Aiwala, CEO of Africa Center NYC and author of the New York Times bestseller “Beasts of No Nation.” “
Icon Mann has partnered with Sony Pictures for the event, which has a theme of “Reimagining African Diasporic Narratives” and will be held on Wednesday, March 8 at the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The dinner is part of a series of awards week events for Icon Mann, a media, production and management consultancy representing African diasporic heritage. The company is a leading strategic broker for investment and enterprise within the creative industries for Hollywood and media-driven African countries, building a global network of creators and leaders focused on “presenting positive narratives”.
Filmmaker George Tillman (“Soul Food,” “Men of Honor”) will also be joined by Sony Pictures chief Tom on Tuesday, Feb. 28, for a fireside chat and film retrospective ahead of his latest film, “Big George Foreman.” Rothman.
Icon Mann’s awards week also includes the “Africa 2 America” forum, a series of film sessions with representatives from Ghana and Uganda focused on establishing “the African creative sector in Hollywood to develop bilateral exchanges.” The forum will be held on Tuesday, March 7 at the Fairmont Century Plaza.

Tuesday, March 7
Icon Mann’s “Africa 2 America” Film Market Session officially partners with the Ghana National Film Authority and the Uganda Communications Commission.
Leaders of the delegation include: Juliet Asante, CEO of the National Film Authority (NFA) representing Ghana; Irene Sewankambo, Executive Director Uganda Communications Commission; Mukiza Robert, Director General of Uganda Investment Authority; and Dr Lily Azarova, CEO of the Uganda Tourism Board.
