Gordon Pinsent Dead: ‘Away From Her’ star was 92

Gordon Pinsent, a prolific Canadian actor who gained international recognition for his 2006 performance opposite Julie Christie in Sarah Polley’s play “Away From Her,” died Saturday. He was 92 years old.

Pinsent’s death was confirmed by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in a statement released by his family. Details about his death are not known at this time.

“Gordon Pinsent’s daughters, Leah and Beverly, and his son, Barry, wish to announce the passing of their father peacefully in his sleep today with his family by his side,” read a note written by Pinsent’s family by his son-in-law, Peter Kelleghan. “Gordon passionately loved this country and its people, purpose and culture until his last breath.
