The Guild of Music Supervisors has partnered with Mondo.NYC for its 4th annual one-day education seminar on October 14, which will be held practically again.
The program track today will showcase some of the top music supervisors in the field, along with their creative partners and collaborators, who will present case studies and showcase the breakdown of the projects they work on.
Programming for the session was led by Jonathan McHugh, co-founder of GMS, who said: “Our NYC steering committee has done another wonderful job in creating a great day of programming. It’s a mixed blessing that our one-day event is virtual again this year. The good news is that now people from all over the world can join and collaborate with some great GMS music supervisors / producers and some creative partners and brands.
Mondo is an incubator confub for the music and technology industry that includes showcases of emerging artists around the world. Mondo.NYC is scheduled for October 12 to 15 practically and personally at Drom. See the Mondo.NYC site for the full schedule. The following case studies are planned:
Take a deep dive into the music of Showtime’s “The L Word – Generation Question”
Panelist Marza-Lewis Ryan (show-runner / executive producer / writer / director); Composers Alison Newman and Heather Macintosh; And music overseer Jenin Scalise.
Custom Overlay: New “Trailer Remix”
The trailer is a celebratory conversation of many trends in the world where new music beds (via custom overlays) have essentially created remixes, and as a result, created a new lane in the music genres: trailerization. Rebuild the song to fit in a trailer or promo for movie and TV marketing.
Moderated by Diversity Contributing Lily Moore, panelists include Mike Lin (music director at Open Road LA); Patricia Joseph (Synchsonic / Bitmastr); And Alex Price (Pusher Music LLC).
