Olivia Rodrigo’s first single, “Driver’s License” is out for only three days – and it’s already at the top of the streaming charts.
This weekend, the emotionally charged ballad has hit No. 1 on Spotify’s US charts, Apple Music’s overall track chart and Amazon Music’s overall top song chart. It also topped the iTunes charts, with the music video recording more than 11 million views and counts. On Monday, “Driver’s License” reached the top spot in Spotify’s Global Top 50 chart.
Not surprisingly, the song has caused a stir among fans – “Driver’s License” is opening up to 17-year-old Rodrigo about a catastrophic heartbreaking incident and finally getting his driver’s license and can now drive to his former love home. The relatable and unprotected lyrics of this song, paired with the production of Rongro’s Masterful, Mature Belt and Dan Negro, a collaborator of Canaan Gray and Lewis Capaldi, are a must-listen for any pop enthusiast.

However, the world peeked at Rodrigo’s songwriting skills and vocal talent, especially with the soundtrack’s gold-certified hit “All I Want” on Disney Plus’ High School Musical: Musical: The Series. Rodrigo already has a signature from someone other than Taylor Swift, whom Rodrigo considers his biggest inspiration. The release date of the song, January 8, Rodrigo posted his response on Instagram. When he sees that the “driver’s license” is already on Swift’s “Evermore” bonus track on the iPhone’s chart.
“I’m going to have a storm of tears next to Taylor on the US iTunes chart,” Rodrigo wrote, in which Swift commented: “I say it’s my baby and I’m really proud.”
