It’s a long way from Metal Stadium Rock, but former bassist Jason Newt, who left the band in 2001, found the right (and remote) place to recover over the years with heavy metal legends. And finally he must have heard it, as the 5-year-old spread his fascinating 5,455-acre land near the Sullar of Montana, with a market of just 000 5 million, in addition to nearly 1,000,000 square feet, two bedrooms and two main bathrooms. The premises include a caretaker house, a two-bedroom guest apartment, two large machine shops and a greenhouse.
The rust-raw concrete steps lead down to the front entrance of the main residence, where clusters, open-plan interiors blend with the rusty clean-lined architecture of the Rocky Mountains and are defined by split flagstone floor tiles, a real cathedral and a real cathedral. Extensive windows across borders for views of the mountains and the sky. In the center of the huge space is a commandly huge, Rumsford-style stone fireplace. In the same shape as the living room, anchored by a vaulted vaulted exposed wooden ceiling and another superimposed fireplace, the main bedroom looks out through a wall of windows that frames views of the Pacific Mountains across the undisturbed valley floor.
Other features include a petite wood-paneled library, a glass-walled solarium that is literally, for almost uninterrupted views, and – surprisingly – a soundproof low-level recording studio. The spacious, bespoke recording space features a custom guitar safe at the entrance to the studio and a decorative starburst on the walls, decorated with exotic wood inspired from the nearby Gibson guitar factory. The studio area also boasts a stone fireplace, as well as a flatscreen TV that makes the space between fireside recording sessions ideal. Not visible from the front of the house – and no doubt a great crash pad for music artists – the guest apartment is a more traditional thematic log cabin.
Since leaving Metallica almost twenty years ago, Newsed has never completely strayed from its journey into the desert. Notably, he was involved with Ecobrin, Ozzy Osborne and led the Newsed band from 2012 to 2014. He is also the founder of the Chophouse Records studio and label in California.
The Veteran Rocker’s primary residence is up to Jupiter, Fla., With at least two residential properties. Tax records indicate that he also spread a country in Mitch’s Kalamaju, and earlier this year he dumped 6.1 million in a genital mansion on three lake acres of land on the shores of Lake Scaniatles in the Finger Lake area of New York State.
