Johnny Depp bought the play “Waiting for the Barbarians” Goldwyn – Variety

Acquisition

Samuel Goldwyn Films North America has acquired the rights to “Waiting for the Barbarians” starring Zero Depp, Robert Pattinson, Mark Rylans, Gana Bayersichon and Gorea Scotchi.

Goldwyn said the film was originally slated for a theatrical release, but due to the Cavid-19 epidemic, it will only be released on-demand and on digital platforms in August.

Gravitas Ventures has acquired the global rights to Clean Slate Productions’ drama “Father Issues”, which will be available digitally and on demand on June 23rd.

The movie previously starred at the Miami Independent Film Festival, The Evolution! Idealwood International Film Festival, The Valley Film Festival, Mallorca International Film Festival, Beautiful International Filmmaker Festival and The Women’s Film Festival.

The story centers on a 20-year-old woman who was forced to take over the family business from London to Los Angeles in a company inheritance from her sensitive distant father and tried to get her father’s approval even after her death.

The film stars Kimberly Datno, Tanner Rittenhaus, Corsica Wilson, Peter Jason and Alice Carol Johnson. The story was written by Amy Dutno and John Cox with a screenplay by director Laura Holiday. It is produced by Kimberly Dayton and executive Amy Dayton.

Summer program

The African American Film Critics Association is launching a Virtual Strong Summer 2020 programming slate with Toby Cable and rapper Christopher “Ludacris” Bridge, discussing the 2008 film “Rocknrolla”.

AAFCA and BFTA are collaborating on the event, which will begin at 10 a.m. PT on May 26.
