Leiden formed the pinnacle in 1978 after breaking the Seminal Punk band sex pistols and releasing their music on Christmas Day in London, just before the release of the top 20 albums in the UK.
“We got really deep on the edge from the start,” Leiden says in the film. “It’s not fun to be in a band like that. Dealing with a management that was more of a sensitivity aspect of the thing. I wanted to start a new band by then. And that’s what the media will go to without being associated with satire. So I used the term Public Image Limited we started rehearsals and the songs just flowed. “
The band was characterized by changing lineups (“the list was well endless,” Leiden says in the movie) as well as a variety of music, including rock, folk, dub, and dance.
“We were quite a wild band,” commented Jim Walker Docker, a drummer at Original Public Image Limited. “There was always an amount of danger urrent”
“The media wanted to bury me,” Leiden said. “I really had to fight for my survival.”
In 1993, Leiden announced that he was concentrating on his solo career and publishing his autobiography, entitled “Rotten: No Irish, No Blacks, No Cooks”.
Following the release of an interim PL compilation, “Plastic Box,” in 1999, the team reunited in 2009 and returned to the stage for their first live show in 17 years, joining Lou Edmonds, a former PL member of the Bruce on guitar.
