Lauren Gibson is bringing a wealth of her dance and entertainment experience to the streaming world.

Renowned choreographer, dancer, Emmy-nominated director, producer and writer has struck a deal with fan-focused streaming aggregator Synedim to launch the BOP (Born Out of Passion) network. It will be available worldwide as a free, ad-supported VOD service, expected to launch in 2022.

Cenedism says Gibson’s BOP network will be a “specific destination” for multi-generational and multi-cultural dance content. Content Slate will include licensed programming (movies, series, musicals, documentaries and music videos) and scripted and unscripted original content, dance fitness workouts and dance tutorials led by Gripson and other industry influencers. Programming at BOP will cover a wide range of dance styles that are not limited to the main content for children, including hip-hop, salsa, bachata, Bollywood, Afro and Russian ballet.

As the creator of BOP, Gibson will oversee the channel, working with Synedism on all aspects of its development, production, distribution and monetization.

Gibson said in a statement, “Dance allows everyone to dream big without hindrance and now that it is much more than before, it has become the driving force of popular culture.” “The BOP experience we are creating together will be unique and wildly entertaining and I hope it will evoke joy and envelop the magic of entertainment.”

In her 20-year plus career, Gibson has created choreography for top music artists, including Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, DD, Megan Thi Stallion, Alicia Key and the Jonas Brothers. She has also appeared as a judge and choreographer on reality TV shows such as “So You Think You Can Dance,” “Making the Band,” “Dance Moms,” and “Beyond the Spotlight.”

“Emotions outside of birth are the ideal name for this kind of service,” said Eric Opeka, president and chief strategy officer at Synedism. “This network will give listeners of all ages and backgrounds a channel and a community they like.”

BOP will join Cinedigm’s roster of enthusiastic channels, including the recently acquired Bloody Hate, which focuses on Horror, Horror SVOD Service Screambox, Indie Film Channel Funder, and Family Entertainment Dove Channel. It also focuses on personality-centric streaming channels, launching one for the late Bob Ross, and recently announced plans to bow to a David Elvis Presley streaming channel.

The deal between Gibson and Synedism was brokered by APA and Abrams Garfinkel Margolis Bergson.
