‘Legally Blonde 3’ Taps Mindy Calling, Dan Gur as Writer – Variety1 min read
Midi Calling and Dan Guer have agreed to write the script for Reese Witherspoon’s “Legal Blonde 3” for MGM.
Witherspoon is committed to the project in 2018 and is returning as Serity-Girl-O-Lawyer lawyer Eli Woods set she will also produce through her Hello Sunshine production company. “Legal Blonde” producer Mark Plot will return, joined by Adam Siegel, president of Plat Productions, and Lauren Newstadter, head of film and television, Hello Sunshine.
“Legal Blonde” was a breakthrough for MGM in 2001, grossing 141.8 million worldwide. The film follows such a useless fraudulent sister who, after earning a law degree from Harvard University, relentlessly tries to bring back her ex-boyfriend, usually wearing a pink dress. The classic film features a Chihuahua named Luke Wilson, Selma Blair, Matthew Davis, Victor Garber, Jennifer Coolidge and Brucer, owned by the character of Witherspoon.
MGM has released “Legal Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde”, which was set in 2013 in Washington, DC. The sequel grossed 12 4,124.9 million worldwide at the box office.
It is the second feature film to be partnered to follow the comedy of Calling and Gur Calling and Priyanka Chopra’s upcoming wedding which Universal won at auction last year.
Calling CAA, 3 Arts and Jeffrey Brittenham re-ranked; Guerrero’s Jeffrey Brittenham and Witherspoon have been reassigned to CAA, LBI Entertainment and Hansen, Jacobson, Taylor, Huberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Caller and Gelman.
