Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence’s ‘Don’t Watch’: New Clip

2 min read

Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Rob Morgan and Jonah Hill face the threat of killing a comet on Earth in a new clip from the Netflix movie “Don’t Look Up”. The clip was shown during Netflix’s Tudum event for its upcoming TV series and movie screenings.

Directed by Adam Mack, the dark sci-fi comedy stars Lawrence and DiCaprio as two low-level astronomers who try to warn politicians and others that the Earth is in danger due to a massive asteroid approaching, only to be met with indifference and skepticism. (Comparing the response to climate change is not a coincidence.)

Lawrence plays Kate Debiesky, a student in the Department of Astronomy, who is accompanied by her professor, Dr. Randall Mindy is not widely recognized in the world of astronomy. But when they first realize the danger that could lead directly to Earth, they embark on a media tour to spread the word.

Meryl Streep co-stars as president of the United States, who seems skeptical about their search.

“Do you know how many ‘End the World’ meetings we’ve had in the last two years?” He asked in the first trailer.

Starring actors include Tyler Perry, Timothy Chalamet, Ariana Grande and Kate Blanchett. It will run in limited theaters before it hits Netflix on December 2nd.

Mack, director of “Vice” and “The Big Short,” told the New York Times in April that climate change was the main spark in the screenplay, but that the epidemic exacerbated the idea. “It started the way it started. But then the epidemic hit. What was done was highlighting what the movie actually is, which is how we communicate with each other. We can no longer talk to each other. Neither can we Agree. So it’s about climate change, but at the heart of it all is what the internet is, what cellphones are, what the modern world has done to our way of communicating, ”he said.
