Les Films du Losange turns up in Belgian filmmaker Joachim Lafosse’s (“The Restless”) new thought-provoking film “Un Silence,” starring Daniel Auteuil and Emmanuelle Davos. On the eve of the Unifrance Rendez-Vous market in Paris, which opens this week, the company unveiled a special stills of the timely drama.
The plot remains a mystery but Les Films du Losange says it will revolve around Astrid (Devos), the wife of an acclaimed lawyer (Auteuil). Silent for 25 years, her family’s balance is suddenly shattered when her children begin their quest for justice.
Auteuil and Devos are among the most famous actors in France. Auteuil has previously won Cesar and BAFTA awards. Her credits include Nicolas Bedouins’ “La Belle Époque” and Michael Haneke’s “Hidden,” while DeVos, who also won a César Award, previously starred in Jacques Audiard’s “Read My Lips” and Arnaud Desplechin’s “A Christmas Tale.” and “The King and Queen.”
Now in post-production, “Un Silence” will mark Joachim’s follow-up to “The Restless” which competed at Cannes in 2021. One of Belgium’s most famous filmmakers, Lafosse previously directed the drama “Our Children” with Emilie Deken and Tahar. Rahim represented Belgium in the Oscar race.
The film was produced by Stenola Productions (“The Restless”), Samsa Films, Les Films du Losange and Prime Time.
On top of handling international sales, Les Films du Losange will release the film in France. Other distributors on board include Senior for Belgium and the Netherlands and Samsa Films in Luxembourg.
The highly anticipated drama has been pre-purchased by Canal+, Ciné+, France 3, RTBF (Belgian TV), Proximus and BTV.
Les Films du Losange was acquired last year by Charles Gilbert, the powerful French independent producer of Mia Hansen-Love, Olivier Assayas, Pietro Marcello, Kirill Serebrennikov and Leos Caraux.
