Eleven Napa County residents who attended the Bottlerock Napa Valley Festival on Leper Day Weekend have tested positive for Covid-1 for, according to health officials in the country, who see the number as an indicator of successful safety protocols.
“Within 14 days of the Butlerrock Napa Valley incident, we are pleased to report that Napa County has had no impact on the number of covid cases,” said Dr. Karen Relusio, the county’s public health officer. San Francisco Chronicle. Reluccio said the protocol that the festival’s creators have developed in collaboration with Public Health has proven to be highly effective.
Last year’s event was canceled due to the epidemic. This year, the festival was held at the Napa Valley Expo on September 3-5 and saw around 120,000 attendees. In Napa County, Napa Covid-1 cases have dropped by 2% in two weeks, according to Relusio. On Sept. 17, two weeks after Bottlerock opened, the county is building 23 new cases per 100,000 residents in seven days, down from 15 later.
Sonoma County has seen similar numbers in Napa, where there are less than 10 cases of residents attending the bottler.
The event marked the first major festival in Northern California since the epidemic began. Organizers are required to show evidence of vaccination against Covid-1 against or negative coronavirus testing, and festival co-producers Live Nation and Latitude 38 Entertainment reported that 96% of participants showed evidence of vaccination. Bottlerock encouraged attendees to wear masks, although most did not, but attendees used touchless wrist bands for cashless transactions, and most performances took place outside.
“We’re seeing an overall decline in case rates,” said Kate Pack, lead epidemiologist at Sonoma County, during a Covid-1 brief briefing last week. However, he added that the number of Kovid-1 cases caused by the festival is probably higher than we know, as county officials are usually able to locate about half of the reported cases. “I don’t know if we have the whole picture in terms of bottlerocks,” he said.
California currently has the lowest COVID-19 infection rate in the country. As of Monday, the federal government has included California in the “moderate” transmission category, while most states are at “high” transmission levels.
This year’s Bottlerock performers include Guns N ‘Roses, Fu Fighters, Megan Thi Stallion and Miley Cyrus, and Bottlerock 2022 is set to be held again in Napa on Memorial Day Weekend. Arts Festival at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco on Halloween weekend.
