‘Matrix 4’ Casting Signed Up for Eight Extra Weeks of Shooting (Exclusive) – Variety

Warner Bros. appears optimistic that production of “Matrix 4” will resume in early July

Multiple sources said Diversity The actors in the fourth installment of Lana Wachovsky’s sci-fi franchise have signed an eight-week extension to keep the actors stuck until at least July.

Filming began in February in San Francisco before moving to Berlin in mid-March. However, the cameras never rotated in Europe because production was shut down due to the effects of the coronavirus epidemic.

Original “Matrix” star Keanu Reeves and Kerry-Ann Moss are highlighting their roles in the fourth film. The cast includes Yahya Abdul-Maten II, Neil Patrick Harris, Brian J. Smith, Toby Onoumire and Jonathan Grof.

The film is currently slated for release in 2021. Warner Bros. has not announced a specific date or whether it will be affected by the suspended production.

The script was written by Alexander Heyman and David Mitchell Wachovsky, who will also be producing with Grant Hill. Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow will produce and distribute the film worldwide.

The first three films – “The Matrix,” “The Matrix Reloaded” and “The Matrix Revolutions” – grossed $ 1.6 billion worldwide at the box office. The trio was composed and directed by Lana and her sister, Lily, who played Reeves and Moss in the roles of Neo and Trinity, respectively.
