1 min read

Prom Night has been put on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak, but with the help of Michelle Obama and MTV, students will be able to practically celebrate.

MTV’s “Prom-Ethon” will be held on May 22 with “Throwback Movies” and a full-day virtual lineup of short-form original content. In line with the event, Obama took an initiative with his organization, Wayne Will All Votes, to increase youth voter registration. The campaign honors 20 high school students and students who lead creative neutral voter registration efforts.

After the day-long event, a 90-minute virtual prom party will begin at 9 p.m. ET on MTV’s YouTube channel to keep the winning students and young prom participants together to remember their special night.

In addition to MTV’s programming, there will be special performances and appearances by celebrities to announce soon.

When Obama gives us all the votes, the nonprofit organization works to bring together citizens, organizations, agencies and brands to increase voter turnout in the upcoming election. It empowers voters of all races and ages to go to their polling stations, use strategic partnerships, digital organizing strategies and grassroots power to encourage citizens to vote.

Bruce Gilmour and MTV’s Vanessa Whitewolf, as well as Jesse Ignatovic (Dan of Thieves), will be the executive producer of “Prom-Eathon”.
