Pink Lady Explains Christina Aguilera’s Struggle on the Marmalade Video Set

Pink made headlines during the press tour for her new album “Trustfall” when she seemingly shaded Christina Aguilera during an interview with Buzzfeed UK. When asked about making the iconic 2001 music video for “Lady Marmalade”, Pink said “it wasn’t a lot of fun making it” because there was “a lot of commotion”.
“There was some personality,” added Pink. “Kim and Maya were wonderful!”
Pink recorded “Lady Marmalade” with Aguilera, Lil’ Kim and Maya as part of the soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann’s “Moulin Rouge!” Social media had a field day with Pink being quoted on BuzzFeed UK as it dropped Aguilera. Pink clarified what happened on the set of “Lady Marmalade” during a follow-up interview on Chris Wallace’s talk show “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?”
“Our personalities didn’t work out…not everyone is supposed to like each other and that’s okay,” Pink said when Wallace took on Aguilera’s feud. “Back then, our personalities didn’t mix at all and that was fine. We hugged it out and kissed it, and we’ve done it many times since.”
While social media has claimed that Pink has shaded Aguilera, Pink told Wallace that she doesn’t necessarily see it that way.
“Shadow… where people screw it up with me is that if you ask me a question, I’ll answer honestly,” Pink said. “I’m going to tell you my experience how it happened. That’s not shade, just honesty. I should know better by now that complete honesty doesn’t work in this world. People want to hear beautiful things and you want to clear it up for them and that’s not my way.”
Wallace then asked, “That’s it [Christina] Really want to throw down with you?”
“He did,” said Pink. “He was upset that I was sitting in his chair and was going to shut down the entire production. I didn’t know I was sitting in his chair. I was also homeless when I was 15. You can’t talk to me. You’re the wrong pick. But That’s the end. It’s an interesting story, but it probably happens every day in every workplace. Some people don’t get along, and then they figure it out and they realize what’s important and they embrace it and move on.”
diversity Aguilera’s rep has been reached for further comment.
Pink has been open about her beef with Aguilera in the past, telling Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live” in 2017 that Aguilera once “made a move” on her at a club. But Pink reiterated at the time that any conflict was behind them, adding, “We’ve been mum. We grew up. We embrace it out. It’s that simple. I feel very good about it.”
“Trustfall” is Pink’s ninth studio album. The singer announced on the day of the album’s release that he would embark on a fall field tour in support of the album. The fall tour will kick off just one week after his summer Carnival Stadium tour ends.
