There’s no mourning here: during the premiere episode of Michelle Obama’s Spotify podcast, she sat down for one-on-one conversations with her husband, former President Barack Obama.
The first episode of “The Michelle Obama Podcast” with the former first couple launched exclusively on Spotify on July 29 worldwide. Since Barack Obama and Michelle Obama left the White House in 2016 – and at the time of secession – they have talked about their lives together in discussions centering on community relations with Americans in times of social unrest.
“The assassinations of George Floyd, Brecona Taylor, Ahmed Arberry, and the ongoing protests and conversations that have tested our patience – and our consciences … I think a lot of people these days are questioning exactly where and how to fit in with a community, ”Michelle said at the start of the episode.
He explained that he invited Barak as his first guest “because he has covered these questions throughout his life. In many ways, you can see his entire career as a constant conversation and evolution with his relationship with a larger and larger community.”
Of course, this undisclosed reason why he is his guest of honor is that the 44th U.S. president will probably have his biggest draw because he is cornered in building an audience for “The Michelle Obama Podcast.” Spotify is also banking on the first couple’s interplay to capture new audiences for the expanded podcast business.
Talking about their different backgrounds, Barack teased Michelle that her family was like “Leave Black in the Beaver” – just the lost dog.
The couple was banned from having coupe-ups during COVID-19. “Like most Americans, we’ve spent a lot of time together in isolation,” Michelle said, opening the door to catch Barack’s crack. “You don’t feel too happy about it before he admits it. It’s affectionate.” Michelle responds, “Yeah, I had a great time. But we had some interesting conversations … because these are some crazy times.”
Subsequent episodes of “The Michelle Obama Podcast” will feature Washington Post columnist Michelle Norris as “Self in COVID”; Dr. Sharon Malone, wife of former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, discusses women’s health; His older brother, Craig Robinson, was talking about siblings and his next episode with Craig and his mother Marian Robinson; Conan O’Brien on marriage; Conversations about friendship and friends Malone, Kelly Debble and Danielle Pemberton-Heard.
Michelle Obama will also speak with President Obama’s former adviser, Valerie Jarrett, about the consultant, and will hold a roundtable discussion on Manitowoc with members of Obama’s staff, Chen Clayton, Yen Dametu, and Christine Jones.
The “Michelle Obama Podcast” is the first project from higher ground to spot Obama’s media production company Spotify under their exclusive Maltier Agreement.
