1 min read

Netflix has signed Reese Witherspoon to star in your upcoming romantic comedy “Your Place or Mine” and “Cactus”.

He will also produce projects through his Hello Sunshine company. Witherspoon has a long-running feature comedy resume that includes the films “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Selection,” “It Means War,” “Pleasantville,” “Home Again,” and “Legal Blonde.”

“Your Place or Mine” centers on two distant best friends who change each other’s lives when someone decides to pursue a lifelong dream, and other volunteers to keep an eye on the friend’s teenage son.

The film is based on an original script by Alain Brush McKenna, who will make his directorial debut in the feature. Jason Batman and Michael Castigan will make the film through Aggregate Films, as part of the first look with Netflix, along with Witherspoon and Lauren Newstader for Hello Sunshine and Lacan Machine’s McKenna.

“Cactus” was based on Sarah Hollywood’s best-selling novel of the same name, which was also at Witherspoon’s Book Club last June. It focuses on a woman’s unexpected pregnancy at age 45, allowing her to rethink the structural life she has created for herself. She then embarks on an unconventional journey towards learning to embrace love, family and the unexpected.

Witherspoon has recently been seen on Apple’s “The Morning Show” and Hulu’s “Small Fire Everywhere.” News of Netflix projects was first published by Deadline Hollywood.
