Sag-Afra and the actors ’equity have settled a bitter judicial dispute that should cover the live stream of the show.

The Performers Union announced the settlement late Thursday night. Actors Equity, which represents 51,000 playwrights and stage directors, campaigned for SAG-AFTRA to remove its contracts by negotiating low-pay deals with theaters for streaming productions. Sag-Afra, who represents 1,160,000 actors in film, TV and radio, has firmly stated that the work created for broadcasting is within his jurisdiction.

The settlement calls for the preservation of SAG-AFTRA’s historic jurisdiction and allows actors’ equity to be required to do so during the epidemic, which expires on December 31, 2021. The agreement was announced by SAG-AFTRA President Gabriel Cartier and National Executive Director David White in a message to members. The parties reached a tentative agreement on November 14 that was unanimously approved by the Sag-Afra National Board and the National Council of Actors ’Equity Association on Thursday.

“The only way to recognize the challenges for theater during the epidemic and reach the audience of the theater companies directly to the audience is to cover the work during the epidemic. The word “” Carteris and White Dr.

“We are satisfied that we have been able to create job opportunities for AA members when they are needed, as well as protect job opportunities for SAG-Afra members now and in the future,” Carteres and White continued. “Existing agreements with SAG-Aftra will be honored for their duration.”

The issue was raised because live theaters had been using streaming of their productions as an alternative to their productions before live listeners within the COVID-19 restrictions.
