There is nothing more frightening than holiday shoppers looking for a deal.
In this context, Screen Media has achieved an alien invasion holiday horror film “Black Friday” ahead of its world premiere at Fantastic Fest this week.
Directed by Casey Tebo (“Happy Birthday”) and written by Andy Greskovic, “Black Friday” stars Devon Sawa (“Final Destination”), Ivana Bakero (“Pan’s Maze”), and “Evil Dead” starring Bruce Campbell, Ryan Lee. (“Goosebumps”) and Michael Joy White (“Spon”). The film is produced by Warner Davis and executive producer Greskovic through his company MFW Manufacturing. Screen Media plans to release a date in November.
Here’s the official log-line: “On the busiest shopping night of the year, a group of players’ store employees have to defend themselves from the soldiers of the holiday shoppers, when a mysterious alien parasite turns them into a terrifying creature, a killer torment.” ”
“When Andy sent me this script, it was an explosion!” Tebu said. “It reminded me of some of my favorite holiday horror movies like ‘Gremlins’ or ‘Krampus.’ I find myself running around in the middle of the night watching with other horror fans, and at the same time, I see my kids sleeping with their friends. It’s fantastic, real, scary, funny and rightly funny – and that’s what I want to see in a movie! “
“High thrills, casting a constellation, and undeniably entertaining value,‘ Black Friday ’is the kind of core content that screen media wants to bring to our audiences. “We can’t wait for the release of this cute horror film, just in time for the holiday,” Screen Media said in a statement.
Screen Media’s Seth Needle, global acquisition and co-production executive VP, and Logan Taylor, global acquisitions and co-production manager, negotiated the deal with Jay Cohen at Gersh Agency on behalf of the filmmakers.
Recent releases from Screen Media include “Best Seller” starring Aubrey Plaza and Michael Kane; “Naked Loneliness” starring John Boega and Olivia Cook and Nicholas Cage hit the cult “Willis Wonderland”.
