“Pineapple Express” fans will be disappointed to learn that a sequel shoot was held due to Sony’s budget concerns.

In an interview on SiriusXM’s “The Howard Stern Show” on Wednesday, Rosen said Sony was not interested when the “Pineapple Express 2” movie was made several years ago.

He told host Howard Stern, “We tried to create one for Sony Hack and thanks to Sony Hack you can actually find the email when Sony doesn’t kill the movie and don’t create,” he told host Howard Stern. “It’s something we were very open to several years ago, but Sony wasn’t interested.”

The infamous 2014 Sony Picture Hack has revealed many confidential documents and emails about upcoming and previously undeclared movies.

According to a report in the Daily Beast, emails have been leaked between “Pineapple Express” producer Jude Apato and Amy Pascal, former co-chairman of Sony Pictures.

“I am very happy that we are very close to releasing‘ Pineapple Express 2 ’. I am very encouraged to make this thing real. We are very inspired creatively about this. We have hilarious ideas. That would be great. When we say “Anchorman 2.” We have learned a lot about how to make these comedy sequels. And foreigners are also doing great. I’m sure PE2 will do better! Cannabis is so popular now! It’s in every corner! “Appato wrote in an email.

However, the Daily Beast reported that Apto wanted a 50 million budget for a sequel, and Sony executives demanded it be kept at 45 45 million. Then came the flurry of discussions for the sequel.

Rosen backed up the idea that “Pineapple Express 2” was about to get off the ground.

“I think we probably wanted a lot more money. Studios, they don’t like to pay. Strange thing, ”he said.

The “Pineapple Express” was a smart hit and cult favorite, grossing more than ১০ 100 million worldwide, compared to a world 2 million worldwide budget.

Then, Rosen has an “American Pickle,” a comedy film in which she plays a pickle factory worker who falls into a suspended animation and re-sinks into modern times. It was published in HBO Max on 6 August.
