Shania Twain drops dance-fueled ‘Giddy Up’ music video

Shania Twain has released a new music video for “Giddy Up!”, the third single from her upcoming sixth studio album “Queen of Me,” due out Feb. 3 via Republic Records.

The cheerful single’s catchy and witty chorus gets a matching dance number in the song’s visual treatment, while the track’s aural versatility is showcased in scenes filmed in a restaurant, a bar, a grocery store and a car dealership where Twain plays a frustrated lead mechanic who stops his workers from dancing. Can’t seem to.

According to Twain, the tagline “Giddy up!” Purposefully his beloved and famous “Let’s Go Girls!” Reminds me of this! The catchphrase from his huge 1999 hit “Man! I feel like a woman!”

“‘Let’s go girls!’ Now that’s an incredibly uplifting feeling, but that’s what I said while recording in the studio and I guess it’s the same for ‘Giddy Up!’,” he explained in the music video’s official press release. “These lines came to me when I Thinking about how to put a little ‘pep’ in my step. I want people to feel good about the new album. I want to set a celebratory tone and ‘giddy up!’ It’s a way to call out to the audience and say ‘Let’s get ready to have some fun!’”

The video also features scenes of viewers recording themselves dancing to the chorus — perhaps a nod to social media apps like TikTok that use similar dance trends to market new releases and connect with new audiences. After Twain joined Harry Styles during his 2022 Coachella set, he specifically reminisced about his connection with young fans and described the experience as “surreal.”

“There are a lot of young people here [Styles’] Age and even younger ones that I guess, becoming adults, start to reveal it. And that’s when I started realizing that, wow, even on my show, there would be a lot of college students on certain days of the week. And I’m thinking, ‘Where are they coming from? I haven’t been on tour in a long time. No new songs so far,'” she said.

In September, Twain dropped the first single from his new album and his first new release in five years, titled “Waking Up Dreaming,” which he followed with the melodic “Last Day of Summer.” Also last year, Twain announced that he would embark on a 70-date tour across North America and Europe – one of the biggest treks of his 30-year career. This is his first tour in nearly five years after running a highly successful residency in Las Vegas. Kelsey Ballerini, Lindsey Ell, Hailey Whitters, Breland, Robyn Ottolini, Priscilla Block, and Mickey Guyton, Lily Rose, Talk, and Tynell Townes will join the country popstar on select dates throughout the tour.

Additionally, Twain and Live Nation will donate $1 of every tour ticket purchase to Shania’s Kids Can Clubhouse, an organization that aims to provide supportive services to children in times of crisis and economic hardship.

“Queen of Me” will be Twain’s debut on her new label home, Republic Nashville, and marks her first full-length studio effort since 2017. Check out the album’s full tracklist below
