UK broadcaster Sky History has acquired “Liberte,” a short film about a female Muslim spy who served as a British secret agent during World War 2.

“Liberte” tells the true story of Noor Inayet Khan, a Sufi preacher and an American who became a France-based spy and radio operator for the British during the war and was eventually captured and executed by the Nazi regime. Dachau concentration camp.

The play was written and co-produced by Sky News presenter, broadcaster and journalist Sam Naz, who plays Khan. The film is based on the testimony given by Khan’s German prisoners after the war. “Liberte” is believed to be the last word uttered by Khan before his death.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of Khan’s mission

“Here was an important figure in the war effort who looked like me, yet I knew nothing about him growing up,” Naz said in a statement. “I felt it was my duty to put Noor’s courage front and center.”

Naz has worked for broadcasters including the BBC, Sky, ITN and NBC Euronews. His production company Laconic Raven is currently producing the drama mini-series “SOE” — about Special Operations Orgy, set during the war, and which Khan was a part of — and the comedy drama “Off Air.” He is regularly seen anchoring Sky News.

Featuring music composed by his late brother Hidayat Inayet Khan in Khan’s memory, “Liberte” was described by his nephews as a “deeply moving tribute” that “gives a glimpse into Noor’s heroism that is both awe-inspiring and heartbreaking.”

The film stars Oliver Boot (“The Time of Your Life”) as Nazi intelligence chief Hans Josef Kiefer and is directed and co-produced by Christopher Hanvey (“Judgment”).

“Liberté” premieres on Sky History on February 21.
