Sophia Carson and Diane Warren will perform at the Oscars

Actor and singer Sophia Carson and songwriter Diane Warren will perform the Oscar-nominated song “Applause” from “Tell It Like a Woman” at next month’s Academy Awards ceremony. This is the second nominated song to be announced after Rihanna was confirmed for her track from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

“Applause” marks Warren’s 14th career Oscar nomination, following chart-topping hits such as “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing” from “Armageddon” (1998) and “Because You Love Me” from “Up Close and Personal.” Comes (1996). But still could not win. Oscar winner Cher was tapped to present Warren with an honorary Oscar at the 2022 Governors Awards.

Carson is a multiplatinum recording artist and released his self-titled debut album in 2022. His film credits include “Purple Hearts,” which he executive produced and wrote and starred in the soundtrack for, “Songbird,” “Feel the Beat,” “Descendants.” trilogy, and the upcoming film “Carry On.”

Warren recently won Outstanding Original Song at the Society of Composers and Lyricists Awards, beating out fellow nominees Rihanna and Lady Gaga.

Oscar producers will continue to announce talent joining the show in the coming weeks.

Other song nominees are: “Hold My Hand” from “Top Gun: Maverick” (Lady Gaga & Bloodpop), “RRR” (Kala Bhairav, MM Kiravani, Rahul Sipliganj) and “Natu Natu” from “This Is A Life”. From “Everything Everything at Once” (David Byrne, Ryan Lott & Mitsky)

Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the 95th annual Oscars will take place Sunday, March 12, at the Dolby Theater in Ovation Hollywood and will be broadcast live on ABC and in more than 200 territories worldwide. Molly McNerney, Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner are executive producers for this year’s show, with Weiss and Kirshner named showrunners.
