ProducerLAND, a curated training and networking program for producers in South Asia, is welcoming Ascent – a project accelerator designed to help experienced producers maximize the potential of their projects by providing global expertise and support.
Ascent is an immersive three-module program where six selected producers will develop their projects for international markets and audiences. Modules will focus on creative production, audience, funding, co-production, location, market and impact production.
The first module is a residency in Goa, India from 29 January – 5 February where participants will interact with mentors and industry experts who are brought on board for their specific projects and developed to mount as international projects.
The lead consultant and curator of the program is France’s Tanja Meissner, previously VP of International Sales at Celluloid and Head of International Sales at Memento.
Mentors also include Ajay Rai, a UK-based producer and faculty member at the Busan Asian Film School; Farah Fayed, Program Director of BeirutDC; Producer Roman Paul from Germany; France-based producer Marc Irmer; Film programmer Kim Yong-woo from South Korea; Todd Brown from XYZ Films; Christian Vesper from Fremantle UK; Kashif Shaikh from US-based Pillar Fund; and Film Constellation’s Fabian Westerhoff who handled international sales for Pakistan’s Oscar contender “Joyland.”
“The program will uniquely focus on ‘native for global’ stories and voices that are anchored locally but have high potential to crossover to international markets,” said Celine Loop, Program Director, Producersland.
The six participating projects include two feature narratives, two documentaries and two series and are led by producers Aastha Singh, Anupama Mandaloi, Arya Menon, Celine Loop, Chippy Babu and Ruchir Joshi.
ProducerLAND Ascent is supported by the French Institute in India.
