‘Squid Game’ star Lee Jong-jae wins Fresh Award

Lee’s legacy is lauded

Lee Jong-jaeStar of the hit series “Squid Game,” and director of the show Hwang Dong-Hyuk was awarded the Geumgwan Order of Cultural Merit, South Korea’s highest cultural medal, at a ceremony held at the Korean President’s Office last week. Yoon Suk-Yol Hwang was honored for her career efforts that included “Miss Granny” and “Silenced.” Lee was noted for being the first Asian to win The US Critics’ Choice Award for Best Actor, the first Asian to win an Emmy for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series, and his SAG Award.

Director Lee in separate Korean honors list Park Chan-wook“Extraordinary Attorney Wu” star Park Eun-bin and stars Don Lee (aka Ma Dong-seok) was named among the 10 cultural icons who received the 2023 Visionary Award from CJ ENM. In addition to his “Squid Game” success, Lee also made his feature directorial debut “Hunt” last year. The film debuted at Cannes and became a smash hit at the box office.

The Hong Kong Disneyland The theme park kicked off 2023 by announcing plans to hire an additional 600 workers. The border between Hong Kong and mainland China is expected to reopen this weekend – significantly, ahead of the all-important Lunar New Year holiday – but likely subject to a daily quota.

This year will see the opening of two new attractions within the Hong Kong theme park: frozen earth, Based on the animated hit movie “Frozen” and named a roller coaster and scenic ride Wandering Oak’s sliding sledge.
