SXSW has launched a virtual movie competition on Oculus TV – Variety

The film festival, held in Austin, Texas, in the southwest, will feature seven competitive projects from its virtual cinema program on Oculus TV from May 22 to May 31.

SXSW was canceled by local government officials a week before the trip began in March. However, between April 29 and May, Amazon Prime Video streamed 39 shorts, features, and episodic programs.

The newly announced virtual movie lineup includes Mulania de Reverels’ ‘Notre-Dame de Paris: A Unique Journey of Time’, where video game company Ubisoft created a VR tour of Notre-Dame Cathedral after it almost collapsed in 2019. Fire. Ubisoft has been collaborating with historians to collect data and testimonials to create Notre Dame as part of the Assassin’s Credit Unity game.

Other titles in the lineup are “Fall Out,” “The Curious Life of Bill Mont,” “A Graphic Memory in Frenz: VR,” “Gra 8 Tennis,” “Look at Me,” and “A Song Between Us.”

Notre-Dame de Paris: A Unique Journey of Time (France)

On April 15, 2019, the world witnessed that Notre Dame Cathedral was almost destroyed in a devastating fire. As soon as the tragedy unfolded, people moved away from those moments and began sharing the memories of the cathedral with photos and videos. Others were able to virtually recover their memories through the video game Assassin’s Cred Unity. Ubisoft has been collaborating with historians for years, carefully collecting data and testimonials to create the game’s notre-dam. Based on this 3D model, Ubisoft has created a VR tour of Notre Dame so that people can return to the cathedral and discover the point of view.

A song between us with ambisonic audio is a sound-interactive experience. During the experience the audience members will imitate the tribal leader, who will be able to teach them songs together. Viewers can get visual feedback for attempts. There are two versions of the project, both with spatial audio. One version is a separate, immersive sound experience, but we also designed an ambisonic dome for a physical installation. In the ambiguous dome, visitors will feel the project after the ear phone and five listener members will be able to discover the piece together. (North American Premier)
