Cabo Family, the production banner owned by the rapidly expanding Asacha Media Group, has signed a strategic deal with Canadian filmmaker Christian Duguay of “Japelup” and “Coco Channel” fame.

Under the agreement, Cabot and Duguer CD Films France will collaborate on the development and production of TV series aimed at traditional television groups and platforms.

This partnership underscores the Cabo family’s ambition to increase its presence in the premium scripted space. Duguay’s latest film “Tempet,” an uplifting drama with Mélanie Laurent, Pio Marmai and Carmen Kasowitz, is currently playing in theaters. In addition to “Zapelup,” Dugge’s best-known film credits include “Un sac de bieles” and “Belle et Sebastian.” The helmer was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award three times, for “Joan of Arc”, “Hitler: The Rise of Evil” and the TV movie “Coco Chanel”.

Asha Media Group is also a shareholder in Shrub Films, the production banner behind Ladz Lai’s Oscar-nominated “Les Miserables” and Alice Diop’s Venice Award-winning “Saint Omer.” Diop’s film is France’s Oscar entry and shortlisted in the international feature film race.

Asacha was founded by Gassard de Chavagnac, Marina Williams and Marc-Antoine d’Halluin.
