The César Awards 2023 nominations have been unveiled

Louis Garrel’s “The Innocent” and Dominique Mol’s thriller “The Night of the 12th” are leading the race for France’s 48th César Awards, France’s equivalent of the Oscars.

Other top contenders for the César include Cédric Klapisch’s “En Corps,” Rebecca Zlotowski’s “Other People’s Children,” Albert Serra’s Pacification, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi’s “Forever Young,” Alice Diop’s “Saint Omer,” Eric Gravel’s “A Plain Temps” and César. “November,” among others.

Nomination papers were opened online on Wednesday (January 24) morning. The 48th edition of the César Awards will be held on February 24 and will award an honorary award to American director David Fincher. It was announced earlier that Tahar Rahim will preside over this upcoming event.

The French César Academy recently voted not to invite anyone accused of or punished for sexual or sexist violence to the upcoming César Awards. The decision comes around French actor Sophie Benassar’s shortlisting of Valeria Bruni Tedeschi’s Cannes film “Forever Young” for Best Newcomer at the César Awards. Caesars Academy eventually decided to drop her from the shortlist after reports surfaced that she had been accused of multiple counts of rape and violence.
