The Directors Guild of America is wasting no time in preparing for the 2023 cycle of contract negotiations, naming the co-chair of the negotiating committee as the industry awaits the resolution of heated negotiations between the main studio and the IATSE.
The DGA on Friday appointed union veterans John Avnet, Karen Gaviola and Todd Holland as chairmen of the committee. DGA’s current contract expires June0, 202 on.
“We still don’t know when our next discussion will be, but we’re looking forward to it because we carefully examine the creative and economic issues of members working in our film and television,” Glater said. “As part of this process, we have asked our three prominent and television directors – John Avnet, Karen Gaviola and Todd Holland – to lead our discussion, and they have kindly agreed. And as an veteran of many negotiating committees in the past, Karen is the right person to build this team of stars. We are very fortunate to have the wisdom and many years of experience to lead this process. “
