What better way to promote a new TV show than to intimidate unwanted pedestrians in the light of daylight?
In a marketing stunt for the Korean thriller “Squid Game,” which has become a global viral smash hit, Netflix has installed a replica of the giant animatronic doll featured in Episode 1 at the Robinson Galleria Mall in Queens City, Philippines.
On the show, hundreds of debt-ridden contestants are mysteriously brought together to compete in children’s games for a huge cash prize কিন্তু but with literally life-and-death consequences. The first game is “Red Light, Green Light”, which is supervised by a robotic doll, who explains that any contestants whose movements are caught will be “eliminated”. It was quickly revealed that they would be shot dead immediately.
The replica of the Manila-area mall observes a crosswalk to catch the puppet winners. If a pedestrian tries to cross against the “don’t walk” red light, he turns his head around it and lights the LED-red eye to get the culprit out. Yaks.

Ultraviolet K-Drama has taken the world by storm since its Sept 1 premiere. According to Netflix, “Squid Games” has consistently ranked as the No. 1 series title in countries around the world. This week, Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s co-CEO and head of content, said the show has a very good chance of becoming the biggest show of all time on the streamer (and it will certainly rank as its most popular non-English original series).
“We haven’t seen it in terms of its global popularity,” Sarandos said Monday at the Vox Media Code conference. To date, the most watched Netflix original TV show in the first 28 days of release is “Bridgeton”.
Meanwhile, the actual doll made for the “squid game” is on display at the Jinchion Carriage Museum Adventure Village in South Korea’s North Chungcheong Province – with a lost hand. But the museum is said to have kept the doll in storage.
The series is produced and directed by Huang Dong-hyuk Diversity He first conceived the concept of “squid game” in 2008. But about 10 years later, before the project was able to be revisited, he was moved to work on several hit films.
“When I started, I was in financial crisis myself and spent a lot of time reading comics in cafes, including‘ Battle Royale ’and‘ Lair Game ’,” Huang said. “I was wondering how I would feel if I took part in games. But I thought games were too complicated, and instead of using kids games for my own work.”
