The Tellurid Film Festival is still going on.

The 47th edition of the prestigious fest will begin on Thursday, September 3, one day earlier than the first Friday of the month

The festival has traditionally become one of the major festivals to launch a film award campaign. Renee Zellweiser began her second Oscar journey with the world premiere of “Judy” in last year’s installment of the Telluride Festival.

“Ford vs. Ferrari” and “The Two Pops” also had world premieres at the festival before becoming competitors.

Known for its more casual atmosphere – no red carpets or photo lines at the premieres – the fest attracts about 5,000 people. The program includes about 20 films.

Telurid’s official announcement came as news broke that Venice was moving forward with its annual plan from September 22-12.

From the outset, the founders of the Tellurid Film Festival refused to call it an “annual” event. Like most things including the show, it was purposeful. There was an understanding that life was really full of uncertainty. Maybe there won’t be a festival every year … and it makes every Labor Day celebration even sweeter.

In a sequence of sizes that our beloved founders could never have imagined, we are clearly seeing obstacles in our path this year with cruelty, pitifulness and stubbornness.

But we are determined to move forward in large part by the voice of our community. This community understands that movies are truly empathy machines, something magical happens when we get together to see the glory of movies together. We humbly suggest that we need the light of the world’s cinema and its affection and the beautiful byproducts of sensitive storytelling chemistry have never been before.

We are not ignorant of the devastating situation we are facing in the world. We also feel fear and crisis. That’s why we’re now committed to following up on all those guidelines we’ve given word-of-mouth advice to the scientific community. It will not be a business as usual. Things will be very different to look at.

We’re working hard to provide a safe and happy environment so you can add all the security tweets you need and adjust, as well as an extra day to add more space between screenings and locations. Your comfort and safety are of paramount importance to us. A defining feature of our community, and especially of the dedicated volunteers who show you, is the remarkable willpower – and stinginess. We promise to martialize these qualities to create the most secure environment for all of us.

For those of you who do not wish to join us, we fully understand and support this decision. Your reasons must involve personal health concerns and you must do it. We believe and hope you will come back with us next time we can provide the best conditions for the show. May be early.
