Concordia Studios has appointed industry veteran Alexa Platt as its chief operating officer to oversee all operational, financial and legal aspects of the company’s business.

Platt recently served as chief financial officer of Sony Pictures-based financing and production company 2.0 Entertainment, led by studio veteran Doug Belgrade. Prior to 2.0, Platt assisted Lanter Entertainment as a strategic advisor. He served as CFO at Open Road Films, head of finance at Ozamnestiv, including Paramount Vantage and Steps at Paramount Worldwide Acquisition.
King and Guggenheim, who won an Oscar for creating “an inconvenient truth,” launched Concordia in January in partnership with Lauren Powell Jobs’ Emerson Collective. Paul Jobs, wife of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, founded the social change organization Emerson Collective in 2004.

Gravitas Ventures Vodor thriller “Holiday by Thai Name” will be released on June 2 on VOD, DVD, Cable and Video streaming platforms.
The film follows miracles as a group of teenagers explore a magical cave that presents a wish for those who dare to enter. Instead of their dreams coming true, the teenagers harass the rest of an ancient monster who terrorizes this community.

Acquisition
Freestyle Digital Media has acquired U.S. and international rights to the U.S.-featured “1 Angry Black Man” and plans to release digital and DVD on June 5th.
The story focuses on an African-American senior – portrayed by Keith Stone – at a New England liberal arts college, where he jumps into questions of identity and political accuracy. This is the debut feature of writer / director Menelek Lumumba. Emmy-nominated cinematographer Hans Charles (“13th,” “Wu Tong Klan: Mix and Men”) lens the film and co-produced the margins with partner Caroline Onikut. Soulidifly funded production.
